Activator Instrument Adjustment
Let’s Get You Realigned.
The activator instrument adjustment is a gentle tool adjustment. The activator instrument is a small, handheld adjusting tool that delivers a quick, low-force thrust to help move the vertebra into alignment. The technique is generally used to treat back pain, neck pain, chronic headaches, and migraines. It’s perfect for patients who prefer not to be manually adjusted. The goal is to use this low-force impulse to restore motion to the targeted joint.
There are two theoretical benefits to this treatment. The first is that the activator instrument works so quickly that the body’s muscles are less likely to tense up in response, and resist the treatment. When there is less muscle resistance, there is a greater chance of receptiveness to the treatment. The second is that the force applied by the instrument is localized, keeping bending movement in the joint to a minimum. The activator instrument adjustment technique was invented in 1967 and has been an integral part of the chiropractic approach for over 50 years.
Routine exercise and walking are both essential to a healthy lifestyle. If you can incorporate them into your life, you will begin to strengthen your legs, back, and core, and build up resistance to physical injury and impairment of mobility. There may still remain a need for chiropractic treatment. This is just another way to put your overall wellness first and reduce the need for adjustments, which is the long-term goal.
